Privacy Policy

W3HTech ("we", "us") operates w3htech.com, a collection of free online tools, calculators, and a technology blog. This page explains what information is (and isn't) collected when you use the site.

The short version

Almost every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser: your inputs are never sent to our servers, and we don't have user accounts, contact forms, or a database of visitor data. The main things worth knowing about are local browser storage, a couple of small calculator backends, and Google AdSense on the homepage.

Information we do not collect

There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, and no contact or newsletter forms anywhere on the site. We do not set any cookies of our own, and we do not run any analytics or tracking scripts beyond the AdSense usage described below.

Local browser storage

Most tools remember a light/dark theme preference using your browser's localStorage. A few tools also save small amounts of local-only state this way — for example recently-used items, in-progress drafts, or canvas contents (e.g. the emoji generator, regex helper, whiteboard, LEGO/MINDSTORMS idea builders, and the HTML email template generator). This data stays on your device; it is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

Calculator backends

A handful of calculators (moon phase, sunrise/sunset, Rahu Kaalam, Tithi, Nakshatra, math problems) run a small server-side calculation for the date/inputs you provide. These requests are processed to return a result and are not stored in a database or linked to you.

The "What Is My IP" tool looks up your IP address and its approximate location (city, region, country, ISP) using a local GeoIP database, purely so it can display that information back to you. This lookup happens in memory for that one request only and is not logged or stored beyond our webserver's normal, routine access logs.

Google AdSense

The w3htech.com homepage uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and manage your ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.

Cloudflare

This site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and security layer. Cloudflare processes standard connection information (such as your IP address) to route traffic and protect the site from abuse, under its own privacy policy.

Third-party tools

A few network-related tools (DNS lookup, WHOIS lookup, ping test, internet speed test) send requests directly from your browser to third-party public services (such as Cloudflare's or Google's DNS-over-HTTPS endpoints, or public WHOIS APIs) in order to perform the lookup you requested. These requests go straight from your browser to that third party — they are not proxied through or seen by our servers.

Children's privacy

Some tools on this site (e.g. in the Kids & Learning category) are designed to be usable by children, but none of them collect personal information, require an account, or include a way to submit personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
